Rule camp - Cape York
The Patrol
has been a fantastic vehicle over the years taking us & our family
on many an adventure during holidays & exploring our own backyard
around Newcastle. We bought it new on 12th July 1990 & the very
first trip was the next day over a snowy Barrington Tops.
Over the
years we added accessories & upgraded parts to enhance its off road
capabilities turning it into a reliable touring vehicle towing the
Track Trailer Eagle without fault.
It has
only been in recent times that the external bolt on parts have
started to fail requiring trips to the Central Coast 4x4 Wreckers
for quality secondhand parts like air conditioning pump, power
steering pump & power steering hoses. When sold in May 2011 after
near 21 years of service, upgrading to the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, it
still had the original clutch at 330,000 kilometres.
Before a
6,000 kilometre trip in September 2010 towing the camper, new
shocks, brake discs & pads were added for safe travels.
Unfortunately the alternator decided to call it a day near Banana in
Central Queensland. By the time we were coming into Rockhampton the
dual batteries had no charge left & the Patrol stopped. We sourced a
new $320 alternator which I installed in a caravan park later that
afternoon.
On 10th of May 2011 we took delivery of our new Jeep
Wrangler. |
